PROCESS

PREPARATION

1: INITIAL CONSULTATION

Our initial involvement into a project starts with a meeting with both the client and key partners such as the architect and interior designers. If the project has begun this would be on site, otherwise it would be at one of our offices.

We'll discuss the scope of the project looking at architectural plans, furniture layouts, control system choices and overall style. These elements play a huge roll in the overall lighting design and this initial meeting helps us get a great understanding for the clients tastes and needs from our involvement.

2: CONCEPT PROPOSAL

Moving on from our initial consultation, the concept design begins to take shape. This concept involves drawing detailed layouts in AutoCAD that show the conceptual positioning of each fitting, circuit number, and control on top of the architect plans.

This scheme is then presented to the client for review as a DWG while also providing a visual of the lighting effects used. We also share this plan with the Interior Designer & Architect working on the project as the more collaborative we become in the design, the more efficient our approach.

DESIGN

3: TECHNICAL DESIGN

As the design evolves with updated furniture layout and architecture adjustments we continue to revise the drawing with modifications to fine-tune towards a final draft.

Unique to Brightbox, is the addition of specifying products for each location. We strongly believe that without specifying a fixture for the role, you wouldn’t be receiving a full lighting design package and therefore not having the optimal impact that your space deserves.

4: FINALISED DESIGN

As architectural and interior details are developed, meetings with our team will be required to ensure all elements leading towards a final design proposal are incorporated. This is a fully annotated DWG from AutoCAD with precisely labelled locations of fixtures, drivers, power supplies and cabling.

Along with the final design, we offer a range of product solutions at different pricing structures, with the ability to get hands on with samples before making your mind up which we believe is such an important step in creating your dream space.

COMMISSION

5: BUILD PROGRESS

Throughout the build and installation process we remain a key member of the team. We always like to have a meeting with the electricians on site to give an overview of the key aspects of the design in order to ensure a smooth installation.

We’re on hand to make plan adjustments for any unforeseen circumstances as well as providing technical advise and assurance for all things lighting.

6: HANDOVER

Once the installation has been completed and the installation has been signed off, we love to take a visit to the site, check over all aspects and provide training should there be a digital lighting control system installed as part of our design.

We’ll check scene setting and possibly adjust lenses and / or beam angles to really put those final touches of magic in that can only be done once you’re in the final space on site.
